This checklist will help ensure your next cattle or deer sale progresses smoothly and complies with current Animal Health Board regulations.
- Have your AHB herd number handy.
- Complete the Animal Status Declaration (ASD) which is required for all movements of cattle or deer.
- Purchase the appropriate tags:
- Farm to farm movements - Primary and Secondary tags.
- Farm to saleyard - Primary and Secondary tags.
- Farm to slaughter - Primary tag. If the animal was bred on your property then a Direct to Slaughter tag will suffice.
- Brought in animals - Primary tag or, if this is missing, it must re-tagged with an "R" tag (replacement tag).
- Farm to "Run off" - animals must be accompanied by an ASD. If under the direct day-to-day control of the owner and they do not mix with another herd, then tagging is not required.
- Check animals moving from a Movement Control Area (MCA) have a clear TB test within 60 days of movement if over the age of 3 months.
- Ensure animals moving from an infected herd:
- Have a TB test within 60 days of moving (a blood test may also be required).
- Have a Permit to Move. You can apply for this by calling 0800 4 TB INFO (0800 4 824 636).
- Are identified with Movement Control tags as well as AHB Primary and Secondary tags.
